Ubersuggest Alternatives Compared: Prices, Features and Fit
Ubersuggest bundles backlink data, keyword research, a site audit, rank tracking and AI search visibility tracking into one product. That means a good alternative is not simply a cheaper tool but one that fits the way you work. This guide compares Ubersuggest with Citera, Semrush, Ahrefs, Surfer and Rank Math, using the prices and features each vendor lists on its own site, checked in October 2026.
Disclosure: ReviewPrompt (reviewprompt.io) describes itself as an independent affiliate guide for teams comparing Citera and may earn a commission when visitors use its affiliate link. ReviewPrompt is not the same company as Citera. Every price and feature below comes from the vendor's own page, and claims made by the vendors themselves are labelled as theirs.
What should you compare when choosing an Ubersuggest alternative?
Compare four things: which jobs the tool does (keywords, backlinks, audits, AI search tracking or content), what it costs on the billing basis you will actually use, which limits apply to your plan, and what happens if it does not fit, such as a free plan, a trial or a refund. The table below sets out what each vendor lists on its own pages.
Prices are shown in the currency each vendor uses: Citera quotes euros, while Ubersuggest, Semrush and Ahrefs quote US dollars. Billing bases also differ between vendors, so treat the table as a starting point and confirm the current price at checkout before you decide.
| Feature | Citera | Ubersuggest | Semrush | Ahrefs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Listed entry price | Starter: €99 per month for the first 3 months (€199 list price) | Price range of US$29 to US$99 | SEO plan: $117.33 per month billed annually ($139 monthly) | Lite: $129 per month; Starter: $29 per month |
| What it covers | AI search visibility tracking, content calendar, technical audit with site fixes | Backlinks, keyword research, site audit, rank tracking, AI search visibility | Position tracking, site audit, AI search performance tracking, competitor analysis | Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Rank Tracker, Site Audit, Brand Radar |
| Free option | Free AI visibility report (domain check) on reviewprompt.io | Free plan and a 7-day trial for monthly subscriptions | Free plan at $0 with 1 demo project | Ahrefs Free for auditing your own site |
| Billing and refunds | Monthly rolling; 90-day money-back guarantee | Monthly subscription or one-time lifetime option; lifetime purchases are non-refundable | Annual price listed alongside a higher monthly price | Paying annually saves up to 17% |
What are the key points to check before you buy?
- Which jobs you need done: keyword research, backlink work, site audits, rank tracking, AI search tracking or content optimization.
- The billing basis: monthly, annual or one-time, and what the vendor says about refunds.
- The limits on your plan, such as projects, websites, tracked keywords or AI prompts.
- Whether a free plan or trial lets you test the tool on your own site before paying.
- How many people will use it, since some plans include a single user.
A practical way to compare is to run the same small test in every tool you are considering. Pick one page you want to rank, a short list of keywords you already care about and one competitor, then see which tool shows you something you can act on within a week. Judging tools on your own pages tells you more than any feature list, including this one, because data depth and usability depend on your market and your team.
What does Ubersuggest include and what does it cost?
Ubersuggest lists backlink, keyword research, site audit, rank tracking and AI search visibility features, and it offers a free plan, paid plans and a one-time lifetime option.
On its home page, Ubersuggest describes the backlink feature as a "Full profile tracking new and lost links, referring domains, anchor text, and authority over time", with a report that shows domains linking to rivals but not to you. Keyword research covers volume, difficulty, CPC and search intent, with bulk analysis. The site audit runs a background crawl and ranks what to fix first. Rank tracking records daily keyword positions by location and language. For AI search, Ubersuggest says it tracks ChatGPT and Gemini on paid plans and Google AI Overview on the Enterprise plan, reporting a visibility score, share of voice and sentiment.
Ubersuggest's pricing page cites a price range of US$29 to US$99. It shows three plan tiers that allow 150, 300 and 900 reports per day and cover 1, 7 and 15 projects. A one-time 7-day free trial is offered for monthly subscriptions, and the home page says the trial requires a credit card. The pricing page also states that lifetime plan purchases are final and non-refundable, so use the trial before choosing that option.
Taken together, Ubersuggest is one product that covers research, auditing and tracking at once. The reason to look elsewhere is usually a specific need, such as higher limits, a workflow built around one job or a tool focused on AI search. We found no citable source for claims about the accuracy or depth of Ubersuggest's data, so this guide makes none. Test the numbers against your own keywords during the trial.
How is Citera different from Ubersuggest?
Citera is built around AI search visibility and content: its site says it tracks how your brand appears across AI search and turns the gaps into content and site fixes, whereas Ubersuggest is a keyword, backlink and audit toolkit.
Citera's site names ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews as the places it tracks. It lists live reporting of impressions, clicks and rankings, competitor analysis at prompt and citation level, a content calendar that plans, schedules and publishes content to social channels, the website, blogs and third-party sites, a brand knowledge base that teaches the agent your product, voice and positioning, and a technical audit whose fixes can be deployed to your site automatically. A human-in-the-loop toggle lets you keep approval over the agent's work.
Citera's pricing page lists three plans. Starter is described as an "Autopilot AI agent + on and off-page recommendations for organic traffic" and costs €99 per month for the first 3 months, against a €199 list price. It includes 1 brand, 25 prompts per month, 4 weekly scans per month, 30 agent jobs per month, 90-day data retention, view-only on-page fixes, CSV export and 24/7 support. Scale costs €299 per month for the first 3 months, against a €399 list price, and covers up to four AI models, three brands, 50 prompts per month and 15 scans per month with 365-day retention. Custom pricing is available on request. The page also shows an annual billing option at 20% off, without listing annual prices.
Citera states a "90-day money-back guarantee" and says: "Not happy in the first 90 days? Tell us and we refund what you paid." Plans are monthly rolling with no minimum term. The pricing page lists no free plan, but ReviewPrompt's page offers a free AI visibility report, a domain check of how AI engines treat your brand. ReviewPrompt's page also advertises 50% off your first 3 months with Citera Starter through its link. Because Citera's own page already shows the €99 first-3-months price, confirm at checkout which discount applies.
What should you know about Citera before choosing it?
- Its pages put AI search visibility, content planning and site fixes first, so it fills a different role from a general keyword and backlink toolkit.
- Starter covers one brand and 25 prompts per month, so check whether that matches the number of topics you want to track.
- The €99 price applies to the first 3 months, and the pricing page gives €199 as the list price.
- The customer results shown on ReviewPrompt's page are reported by Citera and are not independently verified, so treat them as vendor claims.
- The 90-day money-back guarantee gives you a defined way to test it, but read the refund wording on Citera's own page before you pay.
How does Semrush compare with Ubersuggest?
Semrush lists entry prices above the range Ubersuggest quotes, adds multi-site and multi-location tracking on its higher plans and offers a free plan with limited use.
Semrush's pricing page lists a Free plan at $0 per month with 1 demo project, 10 reports per day and AI Visibility features, with no credit card required. The SEO plan is $117.33 per month billed annually ($139 monthly) and covers 5 websites and 500 keywords tracked daily, with position tracking, a site audit and AI search performance tracking. Starter is $165.17 per month billed annually ($199 monthly) and adds 50 daily prompts for AI Visibility. Pro+ is $248.17 per month billed annually ($299 monthly) and covers 15 websites and 1,500 daily keywords, plus historical SEO data, content optimization, keyword cannibalization analysis and multi-location and device tracking. Advanced is custom-priced and covers 40+ websites and 5,000+ daily keywords, with team users and reporting.
Semrush's features page groups its tools under Research, Create & optimize and Track, and lists competitor analysis, local search visibility, content creation and a technical site audit. The lowest paid Semrush plan sits above the top of Ubersuggest's quoted range, but billing terms differ, so compare the two on the same basis. We could not confirm PPC, social media or ad monitoring tools on the pages we checked, so this guide makes no claim about them. If you need them, read Semrush's own product pages.
Is Ahrefs a fit for a small team?
Ahrefs can fit a small team that wants its research tools, but its listed plans rise from $129 per month for Lite to $1,499 per month for Enterprise, so the plan limits matter more than the headline price.
Ahrefs lists Lite at $129 per month, Standard at $249 per month, Advanced at $449 per month and Enterprise at $1,499 per month with an annual commitment. Lite includes 5 projects, 6 months of historical data, 750 tracked keywords, 5 tracked AI prompts and 1 included user, with tools such as Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Brand Radar, Site Audit, Rank Tracker and Competitive Analysis. Standard adds Content Explorer and other features. Ahrefs also lists a Starter plan at $29 per month for keyword research and competitor spying, and an Ahrefs Free tier for auditing your own site. Its pricing page says "Pay annually, save up to 17%".
On backlinks, Ahrefs makes its own claims: its backlink checker page says "Our backlink index is updated with fresh data every 15 minutes" and that Ahrefs has "the second most active web crawler after Google". These are statements from the vendor, not independent test results. If link data is central to your plan, compare the same few domains in Ahrefs and in the other tools during a trial and see whether the link lists differ.
What does Surfer cover, and who is it for?
Surfer is a content tool: its plans centre on drafting and optimizing content, with an AI Search Analytics plan that tracks AI visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI models.
Surfer's pricing page lists plans per month billed yearly. AI Search Analytics is $82, Discovery is $49 with 120 documents and 10 tracked pages, Standard is $99 and adds a team workflow and Google Docs integration, Pro is $182 with more AI prompt tracking and integrations, and Peace of Mind is $299 with unlimited optimization, API access and VIP support. Enterprise is custom-priced. Surfer describes Discovery as a plan to "Draft and optimize content to establish a baseline presence in Google and AI search results".
Surfer fits teams whose main task is producing and improving pages, and it is more likely to sit beside a research tool than to replace one. The pricing page does not mention backlink analysis, so this guide makes no claim about it either way.
Does Rank Math replace Ubersuggest on a WordPress site?
It can cover the on-page part of the work, but Rank Math is a WordPress plugin, so it only applies to WordPress sites, while Ubersuggest is a separate product for research, auditing and tracking.
Rank Math calls itself the "Swiss Army Knife of WordPress SEO". Its free version lists features such as Optimal Settings Pre-Selected, Auto Canonical URLs, a Powerful XML Sitemap, Internal Linking Suggestions and 18 Pre-defined Schema Types. PRO costs €7.99 per month, renewing at €8.99 per month, covers unlimited personal websites and tracks 500 keywords. Prices are shown ex VAT and billed annually, and the introductory price is lower than the renewal price. Rank Math also sells Business and Agency plans for client websites. The PRO version is built on top of the free plugin, so you keep both installed and activated.
The two tools overlap in places, since Rank Math PRO tracks keywords, but they work differently: one lives inside your WordPress dashboard and the other is its own product. Many WordPress site owners could reasonably use a plugin for on-page settings and a separate tool for research.
How do you choose between these tools?
Start with the job you need done, pick the tool whose listed features match it, and test it on your own site using a free plan, a trial or a refund window before you commit.
If your main question is how AI answers mention your brand, Citera is built around that job, and Ubersuggest, Semrush, Ahrefs and Surfer each list AI visibility features of their own. If you need broad keyword research, backlink data and audits in one place, Ubersuggest, Semrush and Ahrefs are the closest matches among these tools, and the difference is mostly in price, limits and how each presents data. If most of your work is writing and improving pages, Surfer is the content-focused option. If your site runs on WordPress and you want on-page help inside the dashboard, Rank Math is the plugin option.
Many teams combine two tools rather than replace one: a research and tracking tool plus a content or on-page tool. Whatever you choose, write down the three questions you want answered and check whether the trial answers them. A tool that is cheaper per month but does not answer them costs more in practice than a tool that does.
What is a sensible way to test them?
- Write down the three decisions you want the tool to help with, such as which topics to write about or which pages to fix first.
- Use the same domain, keywords and competitor in each tool so the results are comparable.
- Note the plan limits you hit during the test, such as projects, tracked keywords or prompts.
- Check the refund or trial terms on the vendor's own page before you enter payment details.
- Repeat the same check after a month to see whether the tool still tells you something new.

What is a lower-cost alternative to Ubersuggest?
It depends on the job, because these tools do different things. Ubersuggest quotes a price range of US$29 to US$99. Rank Math PRO is listed at €7.99 per month for WordPress on-page SEO, billed annually and excluding VAT. Ahrefs lists a Starter plan at $29 per month for keyword research and competitor spying, Surfer's Discovery plan is $49 per month billed yearly, and Citera's Starter plan is €99 per month for the first 3 months. Compare features first and price second.
Is Semrush more expensive than Ubersuggest?
Semrush lists its SEO plan at $117.33 per month billed annually ($139 monthly), which is above the US$29 to US$99 range Ubersuggest quotes. Semrush also lists a Free plan at $0 with limited use. Billing terms differ between vendors, so compare them on the same basis.
Can Ahrefs replace Ubersuggest for a small business?
Ahrefs lists keyword research, site audit, rank tracking and competitor analysis tools, which overlap with what Ubersuggest lists. Its Lite plan is $129 per month with 5 projects and 750 tracked keywords. Whether that fits depends on your budget and the features you use, and Ahrefs Free for auditing your own site is a low-risk way to look at the interface first.
Is there a tool that tracks AI search visibility?
Several tools in this guide list it. Ubersuggest says it tracks ChatGPT and Gemini on paid plans, Semrush lists AI search performance tracking in its SEO plan, Ahrefs lists Brand Radar, Surfer lists an AI Search Analytics plan at $82 per month billed yearly, and Citera is built around it. Features and limits differ, so test on your own domain.
Do free SEO tools compare with Ubersuggest?
Rank Math has a free WordPress plugin version with internal linking suggestions and 18 pre-defined schema types, Semrush lists a Free plan at $0 and Ahrefs has a free tier for auditing your own site. They cover different parts of the job and have limits, so check what each free plan includes before relying on it.
Does ReviewPrompt sell review management software?
No. ReviewPrompt describes itself as an independent affiliate guide for teams comparing Citera and may earn a commission when visitors use its affiliate link. It is not the same company as Citera.
